RC Building Design is dedicated to providing clients from Newcastle, the Central Coast, the Hunter Valley, right through to the NSW far North Coast with the best the industry has to offer. Unique designs reflecting homes that have been meticulously considered and held up against industry leading passive solar design principles is the benchmark Russell sets for himself and his team.

Your journey through the design process is just as important to Russell, as is the experience you have once your home or alteration is built. That’s why Russell and his team work closely with you to help you identify your goals and then create designs that can realise your highest priorities within budget. Working alongside building companies for so long, Russell is uniquely aware of the costs to build his final designs, allowing you to be confident that there won’t be cost blowouts when you build.

Russell’s membership to the Building Designers Association of Australia (BDAA) adheres his code of practise to theirs to maintain the highest standards, confidentiality and ongoing professional development to provide, at all times, the best in design and documentation. Russell is also accredited in the Low Rise category with Building Designers Accreditation & Training (BDA&T), in addition to being covered by full professional indemnity insurance giving you peace of mind that you are dealing with a professional of the highest ethics and customer protection.

A BREADTH OF EXPERIENCE

My interest in architecture started very early in high school, but I did not pursue a career in building design until a sea change in my early thirties when I was inspired to move out of the rat race of Sydney and back to my birth town of Newcastle.

I had already dabbled in some personal renovation projects before taking up Building Design as a profession, wanting to put into practise what was becoming my ever-growing passion for passive solar design. I designed my first new home in 1988 on a very difficult site that faced northwest, with spectacular views of Lake Macquarie, which was sold two years later as an outstanding example of residential architecture.

I have worked as a Design & Estimating Consultant for a number of building companies, specialising at different times in second storey additions and custom designed homes, and spent much time travelling the world absorbing everything I could about architecture and design principles.

My passion for building design is as strong as ever, and now, with a breadth of experience in all areas of residential design and a renewed passion in passive solar design, I am focusing on the homes I love to create.
